Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control NCI-H460,HeLa
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 175kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF/ICC Conditions for IF/ICC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control NCI-H460,HeLa
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Nucleus
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a protein which contains a several motifs including a ski homology region and a SET-binding region in addition to three nuclear localization signals. The encoded protein has been shown to bind the SET nuclear oncogene which is involved in DNA replication. Mutations in this gene are associated with Schinzel-Giedion midface retraction syndrome. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 26040
Gene name SETBP1
Swiss Q9Y6X0
Synonym SETBP1,MRD29,SEB,SETBP1 Rabbit pAb,KIAA0437
Expression Expressed in numerous tissues. Expressed at low levels in myeloid and monocytic cells as well as in CD34+ cells; expression levels are higher in myeloid malignancies.
