Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control U-87MG,LO2,HeLa
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 187kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF/ICC Conditions for IF/ICC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control U-87MG,LO2,HeLa
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a member of the KIF4 subfamily of kinesin-like motor proteins. The encoded protein is characterized by an N-terminal motor domain a coiled-coil stalk domain and a C-terminal WD-40 repeat domain. This protein may be involved in microtubule dependent transport. Mutations in this gene are the cause of congenital fibrosis of extraocular muscles-1. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Gene ID 55605
Gene name KIF21A
Swiss Q7Z4S6
Synonym KIF21A,CFEOM1,FEOM1,FEOM3A,KIF21A Rabbit pAb,Kinesin-like protein KIF2,Renal carcinoma antigen NY-REN-62,KIAA1708,KIF2
Functions Microtubule-binding motor protein probably involved in neuronal axonal transport. In vitro, has a plus-end directed motor activity (By similarity).
