Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control HT-29,Mouse heart,Mouse brain,Mouse ovary,Rat heart,Rat brain
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 25kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene belongs to the TIMP gene family. The proteins encoded by this gene family are inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases, a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. The secreted, netrin domain-containing protein encoded by this gene is involved in regulation of platelet aggregation and recruitment and may play role in hormonal regulation and endometrial tissue remodeling.
Gene ID 7079
Gene name TIMP4
Swiss Q99727
Synonym TIMP4,TIMP4 Rabbit pAb,Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 4
Expression Abundant in heart and present at low levels in many other tissues.
Functions Complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. Known to act on MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7 and MMP-9.
