Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:200-1:1000
Suggested sample / positive control HeLa,Mouse spleen
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 36kD
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF Conditions for IF
Recommended dilution 1:100-1:800
Suggested sample / positive control HeLa,Mouse spleen
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Cytoplasm,Nucleus
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IP Conditions for IP
Recommended dilution 1:50-1:200
Suggested sample / positive control HeLa,Mouse spleen
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 36kD
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
ELISA Conditions for ELISA
Recommended dilution 1:5000-1:20000
Suggested sample / positive control HeLa,Mouse spleen
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 36kD
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a member of the Snail family of C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factors. The encoded protein acts as a transcriptional repressor that binds to E-box motifs and is also likely to repress E-cadherin transcription in breast carcinoma. This protein is involved in epithelial-mesenchymal transitions and has antiapoptotic activity. Mutations in this gene may be associated with sporatic cases of neural tube defects.
Gene ID 6591
Gene name SNAI2 SLUG SLUGH;SLUG
Swiss O43623
Synonym SNAI2 SLUG SLUGH;SLUG;Zinc finger protein SNAI2 (Neural crest transcription factor Slug;Protein snail homolog 2)
