Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control C6,U-87MG,Rat brain
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 33kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IP Conditions for IP
Recommended dilution 1:20 - 1:50
Suggested sample / positive control C6,U-87MG,Rat brain
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 33kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
FC Conditions for FC
Recommended dilution 1:20 - 1:50
Suggested sample / positive control C6,U-87MG,Rat brain
Key conditions For intracellular targets, optimize fixation and permeabilization, and include an isotype control
Expected result Expect the positive population to shift relative to the negative or isotype control
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a member of the syntaxin superfamily. Syntaxins are nervous system-specific proteins implicated in the docking of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic plasma membrane. Syntaxins possess a single C-terminal transmembrane domain, a SNARE [Soluble NSF (N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive fusion protein)-Attachment protein REceptor] domain (known as H3), and an N-terminal regulatory domain (Habc). Syntaxins bind synaptotagmin in a calcium-dependent fashion and interact with voltage dependent calcium and potassium channels via the C-terminal H3 domain. This gene product is a key molecule in ion channel regulation and synaptic exocytosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 6804
Gene name STX1A
Swiss Q16623
Synonym STX1A,STX1A Rabbit mAb,Neuron-specific antigen HPC-1,STX1
Expression [Isoform 1]: Highly expressed in embryonic spinal cord and ganglia and in adult cerebellum and cerebral cortex.; [Isoform 2]: Expressed in heart, liver, fat, skeletal muscle, kidney and brain.
Functions Plays a role in hormone and neurotransmitter exocytosis (By similarity). Potentially involved in docking of synaptic vesicles at presynaptic active zones. May mediate Ca2+-regulation of exocytosis acrosomal reaction in sperm.
