Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control THP-1,Mouse kidney,Mouse lung,Mouse liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 94kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF Conditions for IF
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control THP-1,Mouse kidney,Mouse lung,Mouse liver
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Membrane,Single-pass type II membrane protein
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
ELISA Conditions for ELISA
Recommended dilution See the validation images or contact technical support
Suggested sample / positive control THP-1,Mouse kidney,Mouse lung,Mouse liver
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay

Target data

Background The protein encoded by this gene is an epithelial-derived, integral membrane serine protease. This protease forms a complex with the Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor, HAI-1, and is found to be activated by sphingosine 1-phosphate. This protease has been shown to cleave and activate hepatocyte growth factor/scattering factor, and urokinase plasminogen activator, which suggest the function of this protease as an epithelial membrane activator for other proteases and latent growth factors. The expression of this protease has been associated with breast, colon, prostate, and ovarian tumors, which implicates its role in cancer invasion, and metastasis.
Gene ID 6768
Gene name ST14
Swiss Q9Y5Y6
Synonym ST14,ARCI11,HAI,MT-SP1,MTSP1,PRSS14,SNC19,TADG15,TMPRSS14,ST14 Antibody,Matriptase,Membrane-type serine protease 1,Prostamin,Serine protease 14,Serine protease TADG-15,Tumor-associated differentially-expressed gene 15 protein
Functions Degrades extracellular matrix. Proposed to play a role in breast cancer invasion and metastasis. Exhibits trypsin-like activity as defined by cleavage of synthetic substrates with Arg or Lys as the P1 site. Involved in the terminal differentiation of keratinocytes through prostasin (PRSS8) activation and filaggrin (FLG) processing.
