Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control HT-29,293T,NIH/3T3,SH-SY5Y,Mouse brain,Rat brain
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 42kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
FC Conditions for FC
Recommended dilution 1:20 - 1:50
Suggested sample / positive control HT-29,293T,NIH/3T3,SH-SY5Y,Mouse brain,Rat brain
Key conditions For intracellular targets, optimize fixation and permeabilization, and include an isotype control
Expected result Expect the positive population to shift relative to the negative or isotype control
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background Somatostatin and its related peptide cortistatin exert multiple biological actions on normal and tumoral tissue targets by interacting with somatostatin receptors (SSTRs). The protein encoded by this gene is one of the SSTRs, which is a multi-pass membrane protein and belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase, and different regions of this receptor molecule are required for the activation of different signaling pathways. A mutation in this gene results in somatostatin analog resistance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]
Gene ID 6755
Gene name SSTR5
Swiss P35346
Synonym SSTR5,SSTR5 Rabbit mAb
Expression Adult pituitary gland, heart, small intestine, adrenal gland, cerebellum and fetal hypothalamus. No expression in fetal or adult kidney, liver, pancreas, uterus, spleen, lung, thyroid or ovary.
Functions Receptor for somatostatin 28 and to a lesser extent for somatostatin-14. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. Increases cell growth inhibition activity of SSTR2 following heterodimerization.
