Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500-1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse brain,Rat ovary
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 45kD
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF Conditions for IF
Recommended dilution 1:100-1:800
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse brain,Rat ovary
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Nucleus
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
ELISA Conditions for ELISA
Recommended dilution 1:5000-1:20000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse brain,Rat ovary
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 45kD
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This intronless gene encodes a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of the cell fate. The encoded protein may act as a transcriptional activator after forming a protein complex with other proteins. In mice, a similar protein regulates the gamma-crystallin genes and is essential for lens development.
Gene ID 6656
Gene name SOX1
Swiss O00570
Synonym SOX1;Transcription factor SOX-1;
