Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 160kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This locus encodes a sodium bicarbonate cotransporter. The encoded transmembrane protein appears to transport sodium and bicarbonate ions in a 1:1 ratio, and is thus considered an electroneutral cotransporter. The encoded protein likely plays a critical role in regulation of intracellular pH involved in visual and auditory sensory transmission. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
Gene ID 9497
Gene name SLC4A7
Swiss Q9Y6M7
Synonym SLC4A7,NBC2,NBC3,NBCN1,SBC2,SLC4A6,SLC4A7 Rabbit pAb,Electroneutral Na/HCO(3) cotransporter,Sodium bicarbonate cotransporter 2,Sodium bicarbonate cotransporter 2b,Solute carrier family 4 member 7,BT,NBC2B
Expression Highly expressed in testis and spleen. Also expressed in retina, colon, small intestine, ovary, thymus, prostate, muscle, heart and kidney.; [Isoform 1]: Expressed in skeletal muscle and heart muscle.
Functions Electroneutral sodium- and bicarbonate-dependent cotransporter with a Na+:HCO3- 1:1 stoichiometry. Regulates intracellular pH and may play a role in bicarbonate salvage in secretory epithelia. May also have an associated sodium channel activity.
