Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,THP-1,Mouse kidney,Rat liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 56kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF/ICC Conditions for IF/ICC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,THP-1,Mouse kidney,Rat liver
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Cytoplasm
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The amino acid selenocysteine is the only amino acid that does not have its own tRNA synthetase. Instead, this amino acid is synthesized on its cognate tRNA in a three step process. The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the third step in the process, the conversion of O-phosphoseryl-tRNA(Sec) to selenocysteinyl-tRNA(Sec).
Gene ID 51091
Gene name SEPSECS
Swiss Q9HD40
Synonym SEPSECS,LP,PCH2D,SLA,SLA/LP,SEPSECS Rabbit pAb,Liver-pancreas antigen,SLA-p35,SLA/LP autoantigen,Selenocysteine synthase,Selenocysteinyl-tRNA(Sec) synthase,Sep-tRNA:Sec-tRNA synthase,Soluble liver antigen,UGA suppressor tRNA-associated protein
Expression Primarily expressed in liver, pancreas, kidney and lung. Overexpressed in PHA-stimulated T-cells.
Functions Converts O-phosphoseryl-tRNA(Sec) to selenocysteinyl-tRNA(Sec) required for selenoprotein biosynthesis.
