Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,Mouse liver,Mouse thymus,Rat liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 17kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF Conditions for IF
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,Mouse liver,Mouse thymus,Rat liver
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Cytoplasm
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
ELISA Conditions for ELISA
Recommended dilution See the validation images or contact technical support
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,Mouse liver,Mouse thymus,Rat liver
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 17kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Together these subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 40S subunit. The protein belongs to the S13P family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. The gene product of the E. coli ortholog (ribosomal protein S13) is involved in the binding of fMet-tRNA, and thus, in the initiation of translation. This gene is an ortholog of mouse Ke3. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome.
Gene ID 6222
Gene name RPS18
Swiss P62269
Synonym RPS18,D6S218E,HKE3,KE-3,KE3,S18,RPS18 Antibody,40S ribosomal protein S18
Functions Located at the top of the head of the 40S subunit, it contacts several helices of the 18S rRNA.
