Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,U-87MG,LO2,HT-29
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 27kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF/ICC Conditions for IF/ICC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,U-87MG,LO2,HT-29
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Cytoplasm,Mitochondrion intermembrane space,Mitochondrion matrix,Nucleus
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a 3'-to-5' exonuclease specific for small (primarily 5 nucleotides or less in length) single-stranded RNA and DNA oligomers. This protein may have a role in DNA repair, replication, and recombination, and in RNA processing and degradation. It may also be involved in resistance of human cells to UV-C-induced cell death through its role in the DNA repair process.
Gene ID 25996
Gene name REXO2
Swiss Q9Y3B8
Synonym REXO2,CGI-114,REX2,RFN,SFN,REXO2 Rabbit pAb,RNA exonuclease 2 homolog,Small fragment nuclease,SMFN
Expression Highly expressed in the heart and at lower levels in the lymph nodes, brain, lung, liver, spleen and thymus.
Functions 3'-to-5' exoribonuclease specific for small oligoribonucleotides. Active on small (primarily </=5 nucleotides in length) single-stranded RNA and DNA oligomers. May have a role in cellular nucleotide recycling.
