Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control U-87MG
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal follows target localization and the validation images
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
ELISA Conditions for ELISA
Recommended dilution See the validation images or contact technical support
Suggested sample / positive control U-87MG
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal follows target localization and the validation images
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The piggyBac family of proteins, found in diverse animals, are transposases related to the transposase of the canonical piggyBac transposon from the moth, Trichoplusia ni. This family also includes genes in several genomes, including human, that appear to have been derived from the piggyBac transposons. This gene belongs to the subfamily of piggyBac transposable element derived (PGBD) genes. The PGBD proteins appear to be novel, with no obvious relationship to other transposases, or other known protein families. This gene product is specifically expressed in the brain, however, its exact function is not known. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
