Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 41kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Cytoplasmic side,Peripheral membrane protein,Peroxisome membrane
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes an essential component of the peroxisomal import machinery. The protein is integrated into peroxisome membranes with its C-terminus exposed to the cytosol, and interacts with the cytosolic receptor for proteins containing a PTS1 peroxisomal targeting signal. The protein also functions as a transcriptional corepressor and interacts with a histone deacetylase. A mutation in this gene results in one form of Zellweger syndrome.
Gene ID 5195
Gene name PEX14
Swiss O75381
Synonym PEX14,NAPP2,PBD13A,Pex14p,dJ734G22.2,PEX14 Rabbit pAb,PTS1 receptor-docking protein,Peroxin-14,Peroxisomal membrane anchor protein PEX14
Functions Peroxisome membrane protein that is an essential component of the peroxisomal import machinery. Functions as a docking factor for the predominantly cytoplasmic PTS1 receptor (PEX5). Plays a key role for peroxisome movement through a direct interaction with tubulin.
