Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,PC-3,SGC-7901,Mouse testis
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 15kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,PC-3,SGC-7901,Mouse testis
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Secreted
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IP Conditions for IP
Recommended dilution 1:20 - 1:50
Suggested sample / positive control HepG2,PC-3,SGC-7901,Mouse testis
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 15kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin binding factor family. It is synthesized by the epithelial cells of the prostate gland and secreted into the seminal plasma. This protein has inhibin-like activity. It may have a role as an autocrine paracrine factor in uterine, breast and other female reproductive tissues. The expression of the encoded protein is found to be decreased in prostate cancer. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms are described for this gene. The use of alternate polyadenylation sites has been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene ID 4477
Gene name MSMB
Swiss P08118
Synonym MSMB,MSMB Rabbit mAb,Immunoglobulin-binding factor,PN44,Prostate secreted seminal plasma protein,Prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids,Seminal plasma beta-inhibin,PRSP
Expression Strongly expressed in prostate, liver, kidney, breast and penis. Also expressed in pancreas, esophagus, stomach, deodenum, colon, trachea, lung, salivary glands and fallopian tube. PSP94 is expressed in lung and breast, whereas PSP57 is found in kidney and bladder.
Functions Specific receptors for this protein are found on spermatozoa and in the prostate.
