Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control LO2,HeLa
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 145kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The protein encoded by this gene forms a complex with transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) proteins and may be involved in their subcellular localization. Activation of this complex requires removal of the encoded binding protein. This protein also may play a structural role in the extracellular matrix. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 4054
Gene name LTBP3
Swiss Q9NS15
Synonym LTBP3,DASS,LTBP-3,LTBP2,STHAG6,pp6425,LTBP3 Rabbit pAb
Expression Isoform 2: Expressed prominently in heart, skeletal muscle, prostate, testis, small intestine and ovary (PubMed:12154076). Isoform 1: Strongly expressed in pancreas and liver (PubMed:12154076).
Functions May be involved in the assembly, secretion and targeting of TGFB1 to sites at which it is stored and/or activated. May play critical roles in controlling and directing the activity of TGFB1. May have a structural role in the extracellular matrix (ECM).
