Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse heart,Mouse brain,Rat testis
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 27kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IF/ICC Conditions for IF/ICC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse heart,Mouse brain,Rat testis
Key conditions Optimize fixation, permeabilization, and blocking, and include a secondary-only control
Expected result Expected fluorescence localization: Secreted
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. In some tissues its expression is hormonally regulated. The expression pattern of a similar mouse protein in murine developing teeth supports a role for the protein in the degradation of enamel proteins. Several transcript variants encoding different proteins have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 9622
Gene name KLK4
Swiss Q9Y5K2
Synonym KLK4,AI2A1,ARM1,EMSP,EMSP1,KLK-L1,PRSS17,PSTS,kallikrein,KLK4 Rabbit pAb,Enamel matrix serine proteinase 1,Kallikrein-like protein 1,Prostase,Serine protease 17
Expression Expressed in prostate.
Functions Has a major role in enamel formation (PubMed:15235027). Required during the maturation stage of tooth development for clearance of enamel proteins and normal structural patterning of the crystalline matrix (By similarity).
