Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control BxPC-3,Mouse skeletal muscle
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 42kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control BxPC-3,Mouse skeletal muscle
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Endomembrane system,Nucleus,Peripheral membrane protein
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background Acidic fibroblast growth factor is mitogenic for a variety of different cell types and acts by stimulating mitogenesis or inducing morphological changes and differentiation. The FIBP protein is an intracellular protein that binds selectively to acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF). It is postulated that FIBP may be involved in the mitogenic action of aFGF. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 9158
Gene name FIBP
Swiss O43427
Synonym FIBP,FGFIBP,FIBP-1,TROFAS,FIBP Rabbit pAb,FGF-1 intracellular-binding protein
Expression Highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Expressed at lower levels in brain. Also found in placenta, liver and kidney.
Functions May be involved in mitogenic function of FGF1. May mediate with IER2 FGF-signaling in the establishment of laterality in the embryo (By similarity).
