Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver,Mouse brain,Mouse kidney,HepG2,U-251MG,Rat liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 63kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver,Mouse brain,Mouse kidney,HepG2,U-251MG,Rat liver
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Cytoplasm,Endomembrane system,Single-pass membrane protein, cytoskeleton
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a protein that is responsible for the hydrolysis of a number of primary and secondary fatty acid amides, including the neuromodulatory compounds anandamide and oleamide. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene ID 2166
Gene name FAAH
Swiss O00519
Synonym FAAH1,FAAH1 Rabbit mAb,FAAH,Anandamide amidohydrolase 1,Fatty acid ester hydrolase,Oleamide hydrolase 1
Expression Highly expressed in the brain, small intestine, pancreas, skeletal muscle and testis. Also expressed in the kidney, liver, lung, placenta and prostate.
Functions Degrades bioactive fatty acid amides like oleamide, the endogenous cannabinoid, anandamide and myristic amide to their corresponding acids, thereby serving to terminate the signaling functions of these molecules. Hydrolyzes polyunsaturated substrate anandamide preferentially as compared to monounsaturated substrates.
