Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:1000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 29KDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse liver
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Secreted
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes a member of the collectin family of C-type lectins that possess collagen-like sequences and carbohydrate recognition domains. Collectins are secreted proteins that play important roles in the innate immune system by binding to carbohydrate antigens on microorganisms, facilitating their recognition and removal. The encoded protein binds to multiple sugars with a preference for fucose and mannose. Mutations in this gene are a cause of 3MC syndrome-2. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
Gene ID 78989
Gene name COLEC11
Swiss Q9BWP8
Synonym COLEC11,3MC2,CL-K1-I,CL-K1-II,CL-K1-IIa,CL-K1-IIb,CLK1,COLEC11 Rabbit pAb,Collectin kidney protein 1
Expression Ubiquitous (PubMed:17179669). Detected in adrenal gland, kidney, liver, ovaries and testis (at protein level) (PubMed:20956340).
Functions Lectin that binds to various sugars including fucose and mannose. Has a higher affinity for fucose compared to mannose. Does not bind to glucose, N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylgalactosamine. Also binds lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Involved in fundamental development serving as a guidance cue for neural crest cell migration (By similarity).
