Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control HeLa,SKOV3,293T
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 37kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background CENPK is a subunit of a CENPH (MIM 605607)-CENPI (MIM 300065)-associated centromeric complex that targets CENPA (MIM 117139) to centromeres and is required for proper kinetochore function and mitotic progression (Okada et al., 2006 [PubMed 16622420]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene ID 64105
Gene name CENPK
Swiss Q9BS16
Synonym CENPK,AF5alpha,CENP-K,FKSG14,P33,Solt,CENPK Rabbit pAb,Interphase centromere complex protein 37,Protein AF-5alpha,ICEN37
Expression Detected in several fetal organs with highest levels in fetal liver. In adults, it is weakly expressed in lung and placenta.
Functions Component of the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex, a complex recruited to centromeres which is involved in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. May be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres via its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex. Acts in coordination with KNL1 to recruit the NDC80 complex to the outer kinetochore.
