Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:1000
Suggested sample / positive control C6,Mouse testis,Rat lung
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 62KDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:100
Suggested sample / positive control C6,Mouse testis,Rat lung
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Nucleus
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background This gene encodes one of the multiple subunits of the RNA polymerase III transcription factor complex required for transcription of genes with promoter elements upstream of the initiation site. The product of this gene, a TFIIB-like factor, is directly recruited to the TATA-box of polymerase III small nuclear RNA gene promoters through its interaction with the TATA-binding protein.
Gene ID 55290
Gene name BRF2
Swiss Q9HAW0
Synonym BRF2,BRFU,TFIIIB50,BRF2 Rabbit pAb,B-related factor 2,hBRFU
Functions General activator of RNA polymerase III transcription. Factor exclusively required for RNA polymerase III transcription of genes with promoter elements upstream of the initiation sites (PubMed:11040218, PubMed:11121026, PubMed:11564744, PubMed:26638071). Contributes to the regulation of gene expression; functions as activator in the absence of oxidative stress (PubMed:26638071). Down-regulates expression of target genes in response to oxidative stress (PubMed:26638071). Overexpression protects cells against apoptosis in response to oxidative stress (PubMed:26638071).
