Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control MCF7,22Rv1,SW620,NIH/3T3,HeLa,Mouse pancreas,Mouse thymus,Mouse testis
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 72kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IP Conditions for IP
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control MCF7,22Rv1,SW620,NIH/3T3,HeLa,Mouse pancreas,Mouse thymus,Mouse testis
Key conditions Start at the recommended dilution and titrate for your sample and assay
Expected result Expected signal or band near 72kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The protein encoded by this gene has an N-terminus that is similar to the multicopy associated filamentation (maf) protein of Bacillus subtilis and to orfE of Escherichia coli, while the C-terminus is similar to N-acetylserotonin O-methyltransferase. This gene is located in the pseudoautosomal region 1 (PAR1) of X and Y chromosomes. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Gene ID 8623
Gene name ASMTL
Swiss O95671
Synonym ASMTL,ASMTLX,ASMTLY,ASTML,ASMTL Rabbit pAb,Nucleoside triphosphate pyrophosphatase,Nucleotide pyrophosphatase
Expression Widely expressed. In adult, highly expressed in pancreas, placenta, fibroblast, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary and colon. Expressed at lower levels in spleen, small intestine and leukocytes. In fetus, expressed at high levels in the lung and kidney and at lower level in brain and liver.
Functions Unknown. The presence of the putative catalytic domain of S-adenosyl-L-methionine binding argues for a methyltransferase activity.
