Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:2000
Suggested sample / positive control Mouse skeletal muscle
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 44kDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The protein encoded by this gene binds beta-tubulin and increases the stability of microtubules. The encoded protein can also translocate to the cell membrane and bind phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PtdInsP3) and inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate (InsP4). In addition, this protein is a GTPase-activating protein for ADP ribosylation factor 6 and may be able to block the entry of some RNA viruses.
Gene ID 55803
Gene name ADAP2
Swiss Q9NPF8
Synonym ADAP2,CENTA2,HSA272195,cent-b,ADAP2 Rabbit pAb,Centaurin-alpha-2
Expression Highly expressed in placenta, spleen, kidney, skeletal muscle and adrenal gland. Weakly expressed in thyroid, liver, heart, lung, small intestine, peripheral blood leukocytes. Not detected in spinal cord, brain, stomach, trachea, colon, lymph node and bone marrow.
Functions GTPase-activating protein for the ADP ribosylation factor family (Potential). Binds phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PtdInsP3) and inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate (InsP4). Possesses a stoichiometry of two binding sites for InsP4 with identical affinity.
