Applications and conditions

Where to start

These starting conditions come from the recommended dilution, validation images, and general assay practice. Titrate for your sample and detection system.

WB Conditions for WB
Recommended dilution 1:500 - 1:1000
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,293T-ACOX2-N,Mouse kidney
Key conditions Use a fresh lysate, incubate at the recommended dilution, and check the predicted and observed molecular weight
Expected result Expected signal or band near 76KDa
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control
IHC Conditions for IHC
Recommended dilution 1:50 - 1:200
Suggested sample / positive control 293T,293T-ACOX2-N,Mouse kidney
Key conditions For paraffin sections, optimize retrieval buffer pH, retrieval time, and primary incubation
Expected result Expected localization: Peroxisome
Controls Include a positive sample, a negative sample, and a secondary or isotype control

Target data

Background The product of this gene belongs to the acyl-CoA oxidase family. It encodes the branched-chain acyl-CoA oxidase which is involved in the degradation of long branched fatty acids and bile acid intermediates in peroxisomes. Deficiency of this enzyme results in the accumulation of branched fatty acids and bile acid intermediates, and may lead to Zellweger syndrome, severe mental retardation, and death in children.
Gene ID 8309
Gene name ACOX2
Swiss Q99424
Synonym ACOX2,BCOX,BRCACOX,BRCOX,CBAS6,THCCox,ACOX2 Rabbit pAb,3-alpha,7-alpha,12-alpha-trihydroxy-5-beta-cholestanoyl-CoA 24-hydroxylase,12-alpha-trihydroxy-5-beta-cholestanoyl-CoA oxidase,Trihydroxycoprostanoyl-CoA oxidase
Expression Present in all tissues tested: heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. Most abundant in heart, liver and kidney.
Functions Oxidizes the CoA esters of the bile acid intermediates di- and tri-hydroxycholestanoic acids.
